Errors after upgrading to Photoshop CS2
Previous Topic  Next Topic

DESCRIPTION:

You have Photoshop CS2 and get the following errors:

Error 429 (ActiveX component can’t create object) in procedure ExportLayerPNG of Module frmImPSD - The error is repeated for each layer.

Error -536870399 (Can’t read information from file: . Couldn’t recognize the file type.) in procedure Insert1Pic of Module frmImPSD - This error is repeated for each layer after all the 429 errors.

Result:  Nothing imports into PowerPoint

CAUSE:

This situation has been confirmed and seem to have been caused by UNinstalling Photoshop CS AFTER upgrading or installing Photoshop CS2.

It seems that, by following this procedure, the uninstall has unregistered some of the scripting components necessary for pptXTREME Photoshop Import to work.

RESOLUTION:

1. Close PowerPoint.

2. Close Adobe Photoshop.

3. Launch the Windows Control Panel and double-click on Add/Remove Programs.

4. Click the Change/Remove button next to Adobe Photoshop CS2 or Adobe Creative Suite 2.

5. Choose the options to RE-install Photoshop

By choosing RE-install from the options after clicking on Change/Remove button next to Adobe Creative Suite 2 in the Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control panel, Photoshop should reinstall itself and re-registered the scripting components that became unregistered after the uninstall process of CS.
